Review: Oh You Pretty Things “Pixar” Surprise Box

Now if anyone knows me, they know that I really like surprise boxes and subscription boxes. Sadly at the moment I don’t get any regular subscription boxes because to be honest, there aren’t any around at the moment that cover my interests enough; but luckily I am still able to get my surprise box “fix” from one of my favourite small businesses around, Oh You Pretty Things, which is run by the fabulous Lauren (aka Queenkewpiex on Instagram). As well as surprise boxes, Lauren also offers prints and mugs of her own artwork; plus she sources some amazing vintage/retro Disney (and other items) such as badges, mirrors and more. She doesn’t just do Disney either; other recent boxes she has done include Anastasia, Thumbelina, The Simpsons, Trolls, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and much more! I also happen to know she is working on a new box that I am SUPER excited about and will definitely be getting when they are available πŸ˜‰

So anyway, lets get back to my order! As well as ordering my surprise box, I also ordered a couple of vintage badges from Lauren of Genie and Chip which you can see below; and Lauren even kindly included that amazing Sorcerer Mickey keyring, as well as a cute card and some princess stickers ❀

Now onto my surprise box! Firstly, everything comes BEAUTIFULLY packaged and I stupidly didn’t take pictures of that because I was just so eager to open it all up! But anyway, below is a quick picture of everything I got inside.

I’m afraid I forgot to take a picture of the Toy Story trading cards (another of my favourite things!) as I have already put them in my folder, but they were super awesome. In terms of handmade items by Lauren, she included the amazing Edna Mode quote print, the beautiful Reach for the Sky necklace, and the To Infinity and Beyond banner. I need to mention here how incredibly sweet Lauren was with regards to the necklace. She knows that I can only use one hand/arm so she was so super sweet and ordered some special magnetic fastenings for the necklace to make it easier for me, and even included some extra ones in the box that I can use on some of my other necklaces. Such a kind thought, I was so touched ❀ I need to get a frame for my print but the banner is already hung on my bed and I adore it!

Also inside my box was the amazing Anger plush, and a figure of Merida which I was super excited about as she is from a set they did in Disney Store of all the princesses but the only one I wanted was Merida so I didn’t buy it, so I am thrilled to have her now πŸ™‚ I also got the amazing Bing Bong Little Golden Book which has actually been on my Amazon wishlist for months and the illustrations are just adorable; plus the iron on Woody patch which again, I’ve been meaning to order one for a while to customize some clothes so really happy with that. Finally, I also got the beautiful pin of Carl and Ellie from Up which I am just over the moon with as I adore them and its such a beautiful pin ❀ Overall, I was absolutely thrilled with my Pixar surprise box and will definitely be ordering again from Lauren in the future!

CarBooty! – 28th May 2017

Many of you will have seen on Instagram that I got a pretty good haul at the carboot sale yesterday, my best in a while, so thought I’d write a quick post to tell you more about the items. I wanted to take better pictures of it all for this post but I haven’t had the time so you’ll have to make do with my Instagram ones but I’ll definitely be sharing some of the items in more detail on my blog soon so look out for that πŸ˜‰

First off, these are all the plush toys that I picked up! I am meant to be trying not to get too many more large plush at the moment due to space issues but I have been a little obsessed with Bear in the Big Blue House lately so when I saw Bear, Ojo, Tutter and Treelo I just couldn’t resist! Their noses have all rubbed off but otherwise they are in pretty good condition and for Β£4 for the lot, I couldn’t turn it down XD I already have another version of Tutter and a tiny Bear but I’m thrilled to have found these. Ideally I will replace them all with smaller versions in the future to save on space but the big ones will do for now!

The Mater plush was one of my other favourite finds because although I do see Cars plush fairly often, people always ask really high prices for them for some reason so I’ve never got one; but I found Mater just as a lady was putting him out on her stall so I thought I’d ask the price and he was only 50p!! So lucky!! He is the stamped Disney Store version too! Boo was another lucky find, burried under a pile of other non-character plush and she even talks! She was Β£1 and I am thrilled with her because I have a few versions of Boo but not this one so really happy to add her to my collection. Eeyore was also Β£1 and I just couldn’t resist him as he is one of my favourite Winnie the Pooh characters (I actually collect the Tsums of him) and he has the sweetest little face ❀ He is from Disneyland Paris. Finally, the Nemo plush I also couldn’t turn down because he was only 50p and he is brand new with tags. He is technically one produced for vending machines and claw machines etc but still licensed and actually really well made for a claw machine toy.

The next great find I made was the complete set of these Disney graphic novel books. I have a couple of them already but the lady offered me the whole set for Β£4! Some of them still even have the sticker sheets that came with them still inside. I will definitely be making a post about these books later in the week so I’ll share more about them with you then ❀

My best find yesterday though definitely would have to be these beautiful snow globes! I do see them at carboot sales from time to time but they are usually broken or the globe is really cloudy and people ask too much for them considering their condition. So when I saw these, I almost didn’t even bother to ask how much they were as I thought they’d be too expensive for me. I therefore couldn’t believe it when I did ask and the woman said they were either Β£3 each or I could have the lot for Β£10! However, when I looked at them I noticed the Snow White one is damaged (the squirrels head is missing) so I said I wouldn’t want that one; and then the lady said that in that case, I could have the ones I wanted for Β£8 and Snow White for free! Of course, I said yes! They are all a little dusty but I will clean them up and share them properly with you soon. The Belle figure was from another stall and much prettier in real life. I’m not sure what she is made from but she’s not a normal plastic figure. She is meant to be decorative I think because she has black pads on the bottom of her for protecting when she is standing like an ornament etc. It says she is from Disneyland Paris on the bottom.

So that completes my finds for this week! I hope you enjoyed hearing about them! I am actually away next week but we have found a carboot sale near the place we are staying that we will hopefully be able to go to so fingers crossed for some more great finds then πŸ™‚ If you like hunting for Disney stuff at carboot sales too, make sure you tag me in your photos on Instagram so I can see what you found ❀

Finding Dory Busy Book

I picked this Finding Dory Busy Book up a few weeks ago now as they had it in a discount store for a really great price in comparison to the prices in most other stores.

For those that don’t know, Busy Books are story books that come with a play mat and a set of plastic figures in the back. They have done loads, including most of the more recent Pixar films, and loads of other Disney films.

I wasn’t able to take a photo of the play mat as it was too big and I couldn’t get up high enough with the camera to fit it in but you can see on the back of the book what it looks like.

The front part of the book is the actual book part and rather than tell a whole story of the film, it usually tells you some little rhyme or something about one of the characters. I haven’t actually read it yet because the film is not released here until Friday and whilst I know what the characters are called etc., I know nothing of the story and wan’t to keep it that way! All I have seen is the trailer and the clip of Baby Dory, the rest I want to be a surprise and enjoy it as it happens haha! So anyway, you can see a couple of the pages which gives you an idea what the rest are like, and then at the back are compartments with the play mat and figures in.
The figures it comes with are Fluke, Rudder, Gerald, Sea Otter, Hank, Destiny, Bailey, Dory, Charlie, Jenny, Marlin and Nemo. They are all fairly decent figures, not the greatest detailing or paint work in the world but not bad. As I haven’t seen the film, I can’t really comment as to whether I think there are any characters that I would have liked to have seen in the set that aren’t, but for the price (I paid Β£2.99), you get a good bunch of figures for your money πŸ™‚

"La Luna" Picture Book by Enrico Casarosa

Today I wanted to share one of my favourite books in my Pixar memorabilia collection, which is the children’s picture book of the theatrical short, “La Luna“. It was released by Disney Press in 2012 to coincide with the films release. Enrico Casarosa has worked on many Pixar films including Cars, Ratatouille and Up,Β but La Luna was his directorial debut; and this beautiful book is illustrated with his wonderful drawings (words by Kiki Thorpe and design by Winnie Ho). As a result, the book really captures the magic of the film and has been much enjoyed by my niece and nephew when I have read it to them. It is still available to buy used on Amazon (and new, but for crazy prices) but it is getting a little harder to find now so I’d grab a copy as soon as you can.
