Homemade Dole Whip! – Slimming World Friendly & Dairy Free!

Hi guys! I’m here with something a bit different for you today but I really hope you like it as I am pretty excited about it 😀

So most people who visit some of the Disney parks and resorts will be familiar with one of the yummy treats they serve at some of them called Pineapple Dole Whip. I have actually never been and never had it (boooo!) but I’ve been reading up about it online and decided to have a go at making my own version of it as I thought it would be a yummy summer treat!

My version is obviously going to be quite different to the real thing, however I can assure you that it is super yummy! Even better is that it uses only two ingredients, is dairy free, and Slimming World (a dieting/healthy eating system in the UK) friendly!

Step 1. – Your two ingredients that you need are frozen pineapple chunks, and Alpro Coconut Original Drink. You can get a whole pineapple and cut it into chunks yourself but you must then freeze it.

Step 2. – Measure out your ingredients! To make enough to serve two people (and possibly even three!), you will need 8oz of frozen pineapple chunks and 4oz of Alpro Coconut Drink. With regards to slimming world, 600ml of Alpro Coconut Drink either counts as a Healthy Extra, or 6 syns. We are only using around 113ml for this recipe and it serves 2 (maybe even 3) people so you’re looking at around 1 syn (maybe just over 1) for a serving of this!

Step 3. – Put both ingredients into your blender/food mixer and whizz on full power. You may need to stop it a few times and push the mixture back down to make sure you get all the chunks blitzed. When all the chunks are blitzed up, you should get a mixture that is roughly the consistency of soft serve ice cream.

Step 4. – Serve immediately! This is designed to be eaten straight away so a top tip is to have chilled your serving bowls beforehand so they are also nice and cold when you serve up your whip so it doesn’t melt as fast. You could freeze it, but the consistency won’t be the same when you come to eat it. You could be a little more artsy than me and put it in a piping bag to present nicely like proper dole whip but I was too eager to eat mine so I just scooped and served 😀 Hope you enjoy it!

My Top 20 Disney Movie Songs

I previously shared my top 10 Pixar movie songs with you here; so now I thought I’d share some of my favourite Disney ones with you. It was impossible for me to choose only 10 but my excuse is there are a lot more general Disney films than Disney Pixar films 😛 So I have managed to get it down to 20 and even that was hard! Like my Pixar list, these are not in a specific order; they are just 20 that I really love ❤ Once again, let me know if you agree with any of my choices or if you think I am crazy for missing certain songs out 🙂 There are quite a few quite key films that I haven’t included a song from so I think some of you may find the ones I have missed off quite surprising 😉

  1. Belle (Beauty & the Beast) – Paige O’Hara, Richard White et. al.

The opening sequence from Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourites in a film ever and the accompanying song is just fantastic. I love how it rally introduces us to the character of Belle and I love all the interactions between her and the other villagers etc. I also love to whistle and this song is a great one to whistle to XD

2. Friend Like Me (Aladdin) – Robin Williams

Robin Williams is one of my most favourite actors of all time and even though we only hear him in the role of Genie (as opposed to seeing him also), he manages to put so much of his unique humor and style into the role and this is so evident in Friend Like Me. He is just so funny and you just really get the feeling that he had such fun recording it which makes it such a joy to listen to. Its also incredibly catchy which is always a plus!

3. Give A Little Whistle (Pinocchio) – Cliff Edwards & Dickie Jones

As mentioned earlier, I love whistling myself so I have always enjoyed this song because it involves actual whistling XD. However, I also love the meaning behind it and the interaction between Jiminy and Pinocchio is wonderful ❤

4. Hakuna Matata (The Lion King) – Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, and Joseph Williams

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this song because it is just so fun and can’t help but make you smile. Timon and Pumbaa are one of the greatest double acts from a Disney film ever and this song is just so comical, yet it has a great meaning behind it. I especially love Pumbaa’s part in the song, it really made me laugh so much as a child, and still makes me chuckle now 🙂

5. I’ve Got A Dream (Tangled) – Brad Garrett, Jeffrey Tambor, Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Ensemble

I had a hard time choosing between this song and “I See the Light” but in the end, I just had to go for this one because it’s so funny and catchy and just makes me smile whenever I hear it. I also love the message behind it and hearing the somewhat surprising dreams of the bar “thugs”, showing us that you can’t judge by appearances.

6. I’ll Make a Man Out of You (Mulan) – Donny Osmond, Jerry Tondo, Harvey Fierstein, Matthew Wilder, Eddie Murphy, Lea Salonga & Chorus

The Mulan soundtrack is another one where I have multiple favorites but the ultimate is definitely I’ll Make a Man Out of You. I love the score and its so inspirational; I often listen to it when I have to do something tedious (like cleaning lol) as it really gets me in a “doing” mood XD I think anyone who says they don’t join in at full volume for “let’s get down to business” is fibbing 😛

7. Jolly Holiday (Mary Poppins) – Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews

If I could choose this entire soundtrack for my list I would, as I adore literally every single song on it; however, I wanted to make sure my list had only one song per fillm I featured and if you really made my choose, this would be my ultimate favourite from Mary Poppins. I just love the whimsicality of it and if you listen to some of the lyrics these days, they just make me chuckle (when Mary says you needn’t fear when Burt is near because basically he won’t assault you XD). Its also special to me because my grandmother was called Mary and I used to sing this to her when I was little ❤

8. Just Around the Riverbend (Pocahontas) – Judy Kuhn

It was a toss up between this one and Colors of the Wind for my favourite song from Pocahontas but in the end, I had to go with this one. I love the lyrics and the symbolism behind them, and it sounds silly but as mentioned before, I love to whistle, and this one has some fantastic melodies in it that I really enjoy when I whistle along to it ❤

9. Ma Belle Evangeline (The Princess and the Frog) – Jim Cummings

This is yet another film whose soundtrack ranks as one of my very favourites as a whole so again, it was hard to pick one song to feature but in the end it had to be Ray’s song. I just find it so sweet and romantic, yet so sad, especially after seeing the film the first time, because we know that Ray will get to join his love, but not in the way we would hope 😦 His little voice is just so adorable too ❤

10. Thats What Makes the World Go Round (The Sword in the Stone) – Karl Swenson and Rickie Sorensen

I think this is one of Disney’s most underrated films because it is so charming and funny yet it hardly ever gets the recognition it should with regards to merchandise available etc. As such, its soundtrack is also hugely overlooked in my opinion, and you’ll rarely find any of its songs on Disney compilation CDs for example, despite the fact that it has several cracking songs in it! My favourite though would have to be this one because its so jolly and I love the interaction between Merlin and Wart. Its a really fun sequence to watch within the movie also.

11. Once Upon a Dream (Sleeping Beauty) – Mary Costa, Bill Shirley & Chorus

This for me is my ultimate favourite romantic Disney song and quite possibly scene, in all of the Disney films. I just find the music and lyrics so beautiful and Mary Costa’s voice is absolutely wonderful. Prince Philip was “my” Prince when I was a little girl and I still find it incredibly romantic even now when he starts singing on the track ❤

12. Some Day My Prince Will Come (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) – Adriana Caselotti, Roy Atwell, Pinto Colvig, Billy Gilbert, Otis Harlan, & Scotty Mattraw

Another beautifully romantic song that I particularly adored as a young child. I like to listen to versions where they have included Snow White answering the dwarfs questions before she starts singing as their voices and interaction with her are just so adorable. I am always in awe of high incredibly high Adriana Caselotti was able to sing too! Just amazing!

13. The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book) – Phil Harris and Bruce Reitherman

With many of Disney’s classic songs, its not until your are older that you really truly appreciate some of the meaning behind the lyrics and The Bare Necessities is one that I find incredibly wise when I listen to it now. I wish I could take some of Baloo’s advice and relax but its a lot harder than he make’s out XD I love the £prickly pear” part and again, its a lovely song to whistle to ❤

14. The Mad Tea Party/The Unbirthday Song (Alice in Wonderland) – Kathryn Beaumont, Ed Wynn & James Macdonald

On the official soundtrack listing this track also includes the Twinkle Twinkle, Clean Cup Move Down, and Mad Watch sequences but the version I most enjoy just listening to away from watching the film is one that includes just The Mad Tea Party and The Unbirthday Song parts. I particularly love all the different sounds and melodies used and its just so silly it can’t help but make you smile, plus I also love the concept of the Unbirthday 😛

15. Under the Sea (The Little Mermaid) – Samuel E. Wright

Another incredibly hard film to choose just one song from, especially as Jodi Benson’s singing voice is one of my absolute favorites; but Under the Sea is the song I always put on when I am feeling low because it instantly makes me feel happy again as it is just so joyful. As soon as I hear the steel drums at the beginning, I am smiling ❤ The sequence in the film is just so colorful and vibrant too.

16. You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! (Peter Pan) – Bobby Driscoll, Kathryn Beaumont, Paul Collins, Tommy Luske & Chorus

This scene/sequence has to be one of the most magical moments in a Disney film ever because what could be more magical and exciting to a child than learning how to fly? It amazed me when I was a child and I spent many hours leaping from walls and the sofa trying my hardest to think happy thoughts so I could do it too. If you asked me then if it ever worked, I’m sure I’d have said yes XD Anyway, the versions I like best of this as a song to listen to away from the film must include the spoken parts where Peter is instructing the children how to fly as its just so adorable, especially little Michael’s parts; but the whole song, in terms of the composition and lyrics is just magical.

17. We Know the Way (Moana) -Opetaia Foa’i & Lin-Manuel Miranda

Again, so hard to choose one favourite from this film as the whole soundtrack is absolutely stunning but I find this track really uplifting and inspirational. I really love traditional Polynesian music anyway and this track is just such a wonderful blend of traditional and modern. It gives me goosebumps when I see the sequence it is played with in the film; and I also adore its reprise at the end of the film.

18. What’s This? (The Nightmare Before Christmas) – Danny Elfman

First of all its important to state that Danny Elfman is a true master XD Not only did he write and compose this masterpiece of a song (well, whole soundtrack really!), he also provides the voice of our dear Jack of course and I seriously think this is one of the best “acted” Disney singing performances ever. The emotion in Jack’s voice is incredible as he is discovering the delights of Christmastown for the first time and you can’t help but feel excited and share the wonder with him as you listen.

19. When I See an Elephant Fly (Dumbo) – Cliff Edwards, Jim Carmichael, & the Hall Johnson Choir

This song absolutely cracks me up so it absolutely had to be included. I love silly puns so I find the lyrics hilarious (I seen a peanut stand, heard a rubber band, I seen a needle that winked its eye!) and the voice performances are just brilliant.

20. In Summer (Frozen) – Josh Gad

I couldn’t do the list without including a song from Frozen right? However, I think my choice probably isn’t one that people would typically expect. I just find Olaf’s song adorable and so innocent when he sings about his dreams of experiencing summer, not realizing how it would affect him being a Snowman and all… Josh Gad is one seriously talented dude too and he really brings the song and Olaf to life with his performance.

Thinkway Toys “Toy Story” Baby Face Action Figure

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to finally get one of my grail items at a great price and I’ve finally got round to taking some pics to share with you.

This Baby Face action figure was released by Thinkway Toys back when Toy Story first came out and is usually pretty hard to find, and pretty pricey when you do find it! However, after years (and years!) of being patient on eBay, I finally snagged one and it couldn’t have been more perfect for me! The reason it was so perfect, is because although it was still boxed, the box was damaged and the plastic casing had almost completely come away from the cardboard backing; so I think the price stayed lower as it wasn’t MOC but for me that is perfect because I un-box nearly everything so I didn’t have to feel so guilty about ruining the box for this as it was already done!

The packaging itself is still pretty awesome though; I love the graphics on some of the original Toy Story toy packaging as it’s so colurful, and I love looking at all the other toys available from the range on the back. Definitely want to hunt some more of them down! I actually remember buying the “Knock Down Woody with Stand” twice when I was child; twice, because it broke immediately it was taken out the box, both times 😦

Anyway, lets get back to Baby Face himself. This toy is seriously AWESOME! You have to assemble his legs yourself and it was fairly straightforward with letter coding so you knew which leg went where. His eye really blinks when you tip him up; and he has pull back action so he scoots along the floor and his legs move slightly too when he does that ❤ There is slight damage on one of his legs and another one was quite loose in its fitting so I might fix those up a bit but otherwise, he is pretty amazing and he’s definitely one of my most cherished pieces in my collection now ❤

Lego Juniors Easy Build – Cars 3 Mater (10733)

I got this Cars 3 Lego set a couple of weeks ago right before I went on holiday, so I finally got round to building it yesterday. Lego have released quite a few Cars 3 sets in the Juniors Easy to Build range and I hope to get some more of them, but I went with Mater first as he is one of my favourite characters from the series.

It didn’t take me long to put together which isn’t surprising seeing as though its an easy build set aimed at younger children (4-7 according to the box!) but I still had fun building it and actually, the easy build aspect of it was actually useful for me as I only have the use of one arm and hand due to my illness, so it helped me out being easier to put together 🙂 There are also no stickers to apply which I was really pleased about, all the graphics are already printed straight onto the pieces ❤

All in all, its a really great little set and Mater is just adorable. Despite it being an easy build set, its still really detailed. I’m definitely going to be getting more! This was one of the cheapest sets in the range but I’ve got my eye on one of the larger sets with Miss Fritter next!

The Sims 4 Disney Finds – Anna & Elsa

I love playing The Sims 4 (I’m a die hard Sims fan, been playing since the very beginning!) and I love custom content in my game; and as I have quite a lot of Disney themed stuff in my game, I thought I’d start doing some posts about where I got them from so you can get them too 🙂

I’ll start off with a quick post for you as someone on my Insta is particularly eager to find out about these particular items, but I’ll share more items in future posts ❤

Two Sims that I am currently playing are the lovely Anna and Elsa from Frozen! Here are some screenshots of them in my own game below:

Anna & Elsa Anna & Elsa

Anna & Elsa Anna & Elsa

Anna & Elsa Anna & Elsa

Anna & Elsa Anna & Elsa

I downloaded Elsa as a complete Sim here at Mod the Sims, however, to get her to work in your game you will need to download some extra items too. Those items are detailed on her download page at MTS, but basically you will also need this skin, this blush, this dress, and this dress.

Anna’s dress was from here at The Sims Resource (made by the same person as Elsa’s dress). I couldn’t find a ready done Sim of Anna to download so I made her myself in my game by loading Elsa in create-a-sim first and then going to the option to add a new sim with the genetics option and choosing to create her sister and that’s what it gave me! Well, facially anyway, I had to change her hair to something more suitable 😉 Her hair is a Maxis made hair but its from one of the expansion packs, though I can’t remember which one, sorry 😦

So there you have it! Anna and Elsa from Frozen to play as in The Sims 4. Hope you have as much fun with them as I am having!

CarBooty! – 28th May 2017

Many of you will have seen on Instagram that I got a pretty good haul at the carboot sale yesterday, my best in a while, so thought I’d write a quick post to tell you more about the items. I wanted to take better pictures of it all for this post but I haven’t had the time so you’ll have to make do with my Instagram ones but I’ll definitely be sharing some of the items in more detail on my blog soon so look out for that 😉

First off, these are all the plush toys that I picked up! I am meant to be trying not to get too many more large plush at the moment due to space issues but I have been a little obsessed with Bear in the Big Blue House lately so when I saw Bear, Ojo, Tutter and Treelo I just couldn’t resist! Their noses have all rubbed off but otherwise they are in pretty good condition and for £4 for the lot, I couldn’t turn it down XD I already have another version of Tutter and a tiny Bear but I’m thrilled to have found these. Ideally I will replace them all with smaller versions in the future to save on space but the big ones will do for now!

The Mater plush was one of my other favourite finds because although I do see Cars plush fairly often, people always ask really high prices for them for some reason so I’ve never got one; but I found Mater just as a lady was putting him out on her stall so I thought I’d ask the price and he was only 50p!! So lucky!! He is the stamped Disney Store version too! Boo was another lucky find, burried under a pile of other non-character plush and she even talks! She was £1 and I am thrilled with her because I have a few versions of Boo but not this one so really happy to add her to my collection. Eeyore was also £1 and I just couldn’t resist him as he is one of my favourite Winnie the Pooh characters (I actually collect the Tsums of him) and he has the sweetest little face ❤ He is from Disneyland Paris. Finally, the Nemo plush I also couldn’t turn down because he was only 50p and he is brand new with tags. He is technically one produced for vending machines and claw machines etc but still licensed and actually really well made for a claw machine toy.

The next great find I made was the complete set of these Disney graphic novel books. I have a couple of them already but the lady offered me the whole set for £4! Some of them still even have the sticker sheets that came with them still inside. I will definitely be making a post about these books later in the week so I’ll share more about them with you then ❤

My best find yesterday though definitely would have to be these beautiful snow globes! I do see them at carboot sales from time to time but they are usually broken or the globe is really cloudy and people ask too much for them considering their condition. So when I saw these, I almost didn’t even bother to ask how much they were as I thought they’d be too expensive for me. I therefore couldn’t believe it when I did ask and the woman said they were either £3 each or I could have the lot for £10! However, when I looked at them I noticed the Snow White one is damaged (the squirrels head is missing) so I said I wouldn’t want that one; and then the lady said that in that case, I could have the ones I wanted for £8 and Snow White for free! Of course, I said yes! They are all a little dusty but I will clean them up and share them properly with you soon. The Belle figure was from another stall and much prettier in real life. I’m not sure what she is made from but she’s not a normal plastic figure. She is meant to be decorative I think because she has black pads on the bottom of her for protecting when she is standing like an ornament etc. It says she is from Disneyland Paris on the bottom.

So that completes my finds for this week! I hope you enjoyed hearing about them! I am actually away next week but we have found a carboot sale near the place we are staying that we will hopefully be able to go to so fingers crossed for some more great finds then 🙂 If you like hunting for Disney stuff at carboot sales too, make sure you tag me in your photos on Instagram so I can see what you found ❤

My Top 10 Pixar Movie Songs

I thought I’d start writing some posts about some of my favourite Disney things e.g. songs, characters etc. and so I am starting off with my top 10 songs from the Pixar films, including the short films. Now this list isn’t in a specific order, though the first one listed is my absolute favourite. Let me know if you agree with any of my choices or if you think I have missed out one you think is awesome ❤

  1. You’ve Got a Friend in Me (Toy Story) – Randy Newman

I don’t think this is going to come as a great surprise to anyone that this is my ultimate favourite song from a Pixar film. I just love the lyrics and the meaning behind it. I also have a treasured memory of one of my best friends in school printing off the lyrics for me and presenting it to me as a gift as a symbol of our friendship ❤

2. If I Didn’t Have You (Monsters Inc.) – Billy Crystal and John Goodman

I love this song because its so fun and such a classic buddy song. I love how its been done in character and the lyrics are brilliant, I love listening to it at the end credits of the film.

3. Life is a Highway (Cars) – Rascal Flatts

This is real feel good song and it also feels a little more “grown up” so if you ever feel the need to listen to a Disney song in an environment where it might not be so appropriate to be belting it out to “Let it Go”, this song is perfect XD

4. Sailing No More (Toy Story) – Randy Newman

This song is up there on my list as one of the saddest Disney songs ever! It just breaks my heart when Buzz realises he is “just” a toy and you see the emotion on his face. The song matches his emotions completely and is timed so perfectly as he falls and crashes on the floor. So although it is one of the saddest songs to me, it is a real work of art too so I had to include it even though it upsets me XD

5. Put On Your Sunday Clothes (Wall-E) – Michael Crawford

This song was originally from the film musical “Hello, Dolly!” but part of it is used in the opening sequence of Wall-E. I just feel it was really clever as the opening lyrics are perfect for applying to the wonder of the universe and the shots of outer space it is set against are just incredible; but then as we lower down to see Earth as it has become, full of rubbish and no signs of life; the song starts to fade out which I think has a really powerful impact.

6. Time of Your Life (A Bug’s Life) – Randy Newman

Another great song from Randy Newman with great lyrics. It plays during the end credits of the film but you can still listen to the lyrics and relate it to how Flik felt when he was going off out into the world and seeing all these new things and it matches his personality so well too.

7. Married Life (Up) – Michael Giacchino

This is the only song on my list that is purely instrumental but it is one of my absolute favourite pieces of music ever as it just conveys so much emotion in a few short minutes. I can picture the sequence from the film that it it set against perfectly when I listen to it and get just as emotional just listening to the music on its own as I do when I watch the film. Just beautiful.

8. When Somebody Loved Me (Toy Story 2) – Sarah McLachlan

Earlier I talked about “Sailing No More” being one of the saddest songs ever, but this one takes the number one spot for that title! This is of course “Jessie’s Song” where we learn her story of once being loved by her girl Emily, and then abandoned when Emily grows up. It is beautifully sung by Sarah McLachlan and perfectly conveys Jessie’s feelings in that moment in the film. As I have grown up myself, I actually find it too sad to listen to on its own now, but it still had to have a place in my top Pixar songs ❤

9. Boundin’ (Boundin’) – Bud Luckey

This is a musically narrated story from the Pixar short, Boundin’, written, directed and performed by Bud Luckey. I just adore the story/lyrics and the musical composition is just adorable. Its my favourite of all the Pixar shorts and when I am feeling down, I always watch it or listen to it to help myself feel better ❤

10. Lava (Lava) – Kuana Torres Kahele & Napua Greig

This is from another of Pixar’s short films (and my 2nd favourite of all their shorts) and again, the lyrics and story and meaning behind the song are just so beautiful and it is beautifully sung by Kuana Torres Kahele and Napua Greig. It has so much emotion in it; its heartbreaking when he disappears beneath the sea, but when his love starts singing and you hear him burst out and find her, its so joyful and makes me so happy. Its just a wonderful love song ❤
