Funko Pop! Vinyl – A Bugs Life – Princess Atta, Flik & Heimlich

Today I want to share my collection of A Bugs Life Funko Pop! Vinyl figures with you all. They were released a few months ago now but I was only just able to buy them a few weeks ago. I got them from Pop in a Box as part of their 5 Pop’s for £40 deal which is a really good deal if they have the Pop’s you want in stock.

Anyway, the Pop’s available in the A Bugs Life collection include Princess Atta, Flik, and Heimlich so lets start with the usual pics of their boxes. They are all the same usual design of Pop boxes with illustrations of the Pop’s on, as well as which others are available in the collection on the back.

Princess Atta comes with a little clear disc stand to make it easier for her to stand on display. It is possible to stand her without it but its obviously not as secure as she has a skinny body and feet and quite a big head 😀 I really like her pose, I think they captured her character really well with it; and although simple, I love her little wings on her back.

Flik also comes with a clear disc stand like Atta. He is wearing his trademark cap and backpack but the thing I really love about him is his “water bottle” or “water leaf” I should say, that he’s holding in his hands. The water drop just looks really cool, much cooler in real life.

Finally, we have Heimlich, and I would have to say he’s my favourite of the three just because his colours are so bright and vibrant and he is just so cute and chunky ❤ Nice merch is so hard to find these days for this film so if you are a fan, I really recommend them as they are just so nice and really capture the characters well.

My Top 10 Pixar Movie Songs

I thought I’d start writing some posts about some of my favourite Disney things e.g. songs, characters etc. and so I am starting off with my top 10 songs from the Pixar films, including the short films. Now this list isn’t in a specific order, though the first one listed is my absolute favourite. Let me know if you agree with any of my choices or if you think I have missed out one you think is awesome ❤

  1. You’ve Got a Friend in Me (Toy Story) – Randy Newman

I don’t think this is going to come as a great surprise to anyone that this is my ultimate favourite song from a Pixar film. I just love the lyrics and the meaning behind it. I also have a treasured memory of one of my best friends in school printing off the lyrics for me and presenting it to me as a gift as a symbol of our friendship ❤

2. If I Didn’t Have You (Monsters Inc.) – Billy Crystal and John Goodman

I love this song because its so fun and such a classic buddy song. I love how its been done in character and the lyrics are brilliant, I love listening to it at the end credits of the film.

3. Life is a Highway (Cars) – Rascal Flatts

This is real feel good song and it also feels a little more “grown up” so if you ever feel the need to listen to a Disney song in an environment where it might not be so appropriate to be belting it out to “Let it Go”, this song is perfect XD

4. Sailing No More (Toy Story) – Randy Newman

This song is up there on my list as one of the saddest Disney songs ever! It just breaks my heart when Buzz realises he is “just” a toy and you see the emotion on his face. The song matches his emotions completely and is timed so perfectly as he falls and crashes on the floor. So although it is one of the saddest songs to me, it is a real work of art too so I had to include it even though it upsets me XD

5. Put On Your Sunday Clothes (Wall-E) – Michael Crawford

This song was originally from the film musical “Hello, Dolly!” but part of it is used in the opening sequence of Wall-E. I just feel it was really clever as the opening lyrics are perfect for applying to the wonder of the universe and the shots of outer space it is set against are just incredible; but then as we lower down to see Earth as it has become, full of rubbish and no signs of life; the song starts to fade out which I think has a really powerful impact.

6. Time of Your Life (A Bug’s Life) – Randy Newman

Another great song from Randy Newman with great lyrics. It plays during the end credits of the film but you can still listen to the lyrics and relate it to how Flik felt when he was going off out into the world and seeing all these new things and it matches his personality so well too.

7. Married Life (Up) – Michael Giacchino

This is the only song on my list that is purely instrumental but it is one of my absolute favourite pieces of music ever as it just conveys so much emotion in a few short minutes. I can picture the sequence from the film that it it set against perfectly when I listen to it and get just as emotional just listening to the music on its own as I do when I watch the film. Just beautiful.

8. When Somebody Loved Me (Toy Story 2) – Sarah McLachlan

Earlier I talked about “Sailing No More” being one of the saddest songs ever, but this one takes the number one spot for that title! This is of course “Jessie’s Song” where we learn her story of once being loved by her girl Emily, and then abandoned when Emily grows up. It is beautifully sung by Sarah McLachlan and perfectly conveys Jessie’s feelings in that moment in the film. As I have grown up myself, I actually find it too sad to listen to on its own now, but it still had to have a place in my top Pixar songs ❤

9. Boundin’ (Boundin’) – Bud Luckey

This is a musically narrated story from the Pixar short, Boundin’, written, directed and performed by Bud Luckey. I just adore the story/lyrics and the musical composition is just adorable. Its my favourite of all the Pixar shorts and when I am feeling down, I always watch it or listen to it to help myself feel better ❤

10. Lava (Lava) – Kuana Torres Kahele & Napua Greig

This is from another of Pixar’s short films (and my 2nd favourite of all their shorts) and again, the lyrics and story and meaning behind the song are just so beautiful and it is beautifully sung by Kuana Torres Kahele and Napua Greig. It has so much emotion in it; its heartbreaking when he disappears beneath the sea, but when his love starts singing and you hear him burst out and find her, its so joyful and makes me so happy. Its just a wonderful love song ❤

Mattel “A Bug’s Life” Hopper Hideout Playset

The final of the big micro A Bug’s Life playsets I got in the bundle on eBay was the Hopper Hideout set. In this set, Hopper’s wings open and the back of his head folds up to reveal the scene inside which features an ant dungeon, a rotating leaf bed, a battle arena, an attack glider with berry bomb and a firing canon.

The set comes with figures of Flik, Princess Atta, Thumper and Hopper; as well as the attack glider which Flik can fit into.

I still have a couple of the small figure add on packs to show you over the next few days but in terms of the larger sets; I still now need to find the Bug Circus playset but I haven’t seen that one come up in the UK very often so I think it may take a while!

Mattel “A Bug’s Life” Dim Anthill Battleground Playset

The second of the Mattel micro playsets that I got on eBay a few weeks ago is the Dim Anthill Battleground set (read about the Circus Battle Wagon set here).

In this set, Dim’s wing’s/back shell folds open to reveal the little Anthill battleground underneath. It comes with little figures of Flik, Francis, Molt, and Dim; as well as the Battle Bird vehicle. Inside Dim’s hidden playset is a nut chute, Flik’s secret lab, a secret anthill, a launching nut catapult, and a ladder slide. The Molt figure in my set has one arm missing but aside from that, its a great little set.

Mattel “A Bug’s Life” Circus Battle Wagon Playset

When A Bug’s Life was released, I remember that I was never hugely impressed by the toys that were available for it, despite loving the film; and looking back now as an adult, that hasn’t massively changed. However, the series of toys made for the film that I did really love and always wanted were the micro playsets released by Mattel. They were a bit like Polly Pocket’s and there were various ones you could collect. Over the years I managed to pick up a couple of incomplete ones at carboot sales but I was lucky enough to find someone selling a whole bunch of complete sets on eBay a few weeks ago and so I snapped them up! None of them were boxed but all were complete with instructions.

The first one I will share with you is the Circus Battle Wagon set. It consists of P.T. Flea’s circus wagon and comes with P.T. Flea himself to drive it. The sides of the wagon fold down to reveal launching spools on either side that shoot out a pencil and bottle cap; and the roof flips up to reveal a firing eye dropper canon that shoots out a paintbrush. Also, when you put P.T. Flea on the seat and move the wagon along, he bobs up and down in his seat. My favourite thing about this set though is the gorgeous image on the side of the wagon ❤

Check out the pictures of the set below and check back soon as I’ll be sharing the rest of the sets I got over the next few days.

Applause "Dim" Plush (A Bug’s Life)

I recieved a few Disney/Pixar related items for Christmas but one of the most special items was this gorgeous Dim plush that I recieved from one of my best friends, Emma. Its particularly special because he was Emma’s very own plush that she bought when the film originally came out but she has gifted him to me and I am so grateful and thrilled 💖

He was made by Applause and still has both his plastic Applause tag, and his paper tag and is in beautiful condition! Emma really cared for him and now I will too 😙 Thank you so much, Emma, for giving him to me 💗

A Bug’s Life – Disney Store Heimlich Plush

I haven’t shared any of my A Bug’s Life stuff yet but to be honest, I don’t have a huge amount of toys or memorabilia from that particular film. I wasn’t a huge fan of the toy figures and playsets; and also, whilst I love the film, I do have a slight issue with it in that I have a huge phobia of butterflies XD So I have to skip some parts when I watch it and therefore I am picky about what bits of merchandise I will have in my collection haha!

However, today I picked up this gorgeous Heimlich plush at a car boot sale for 50p so I thought I’d share him with you. Heimlich is probably my favourite character from the film (until he turns into a butterfly that is!) so I was really happy to find this. I have a beanie toy of him already but this plush is much nicer. According to the tag it was from the Disney Store originally. It doesn;t say what year but I’m assuming it would have been around the time the film came out in 1998. He is in immaculate condition! Really soft and lovely vibrant colours 🙂 I really love how Disney Store used to write the name of the character on the fabric labels too. They don’t tend to do it anymore which is a shame as I thought it was a nice touch.
