Disney Store Moana Toddler Doll

I hadn’t really intended to get this doll as I knew she was pretty big and I wasn’t sure where I would put her; however, two of the classic dolls I got recently were faulty and Disney couldn’t send replacements as they were no longer in stock so they asked me to choose something else from the store instead (or have a refund). So I decided to take the plunge and get her as I did really want to have something representing baby Moana in my collection.

I do have a couple of the big Animator dolls so I shouldn’t have been so surprised by her size when she arrived, but I was! She is slightly shorter than them, but chunkier. She isn’t officially called an Animator doll but they have released a plush version of her that IS part of the official Animator range so it will be interesting to see if they release another version of Baby Moana in the future. I hope they at least release one of the Mini Animator sets of her because that would be adorable 💓

Her box is quite pretty with a nice wave design and nice artwork of Moana and Maui on the front and back (though perhaps some artwork of actual baby Moana would have been cuter).

Straight out the box she looks pretty cute. Her outfit is nice but I don’t know why they bothered with the top since she doesn’t wear that in the film. It does look pretty cute though. Her face is painted really nicely and I think it is a good likeness for her. My doll has a couple of marks on the vinyl on her face which is a little annoying but I’ll get over it.

Her hair isn’t great but should be ok with a little tidy up; and her flower hair clip is VERY stiff. It wasn’t attached to her hair when I took her out the box and I managed to open it to try and clip it back on, but I can’t get it to snap shut at the moment so its just hanging on.

Overall, I really love the detail on this doll. Her sandy feet are just adorable and her little turtle friend is really cute. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone thinking of adding her to their collection.

Disney Store 2016 Classic Dolls – Belle & Beast

I have quite a few of the 2016 Disney Store Classic Dolls now that I have slowly been de-boxing
and today I want to share one of my favourite couples with you, Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast.

When I was a child, I had a bit of a crush on Beast and one of my favourite toys was my Beast figure from McDonalds so I’ve been wanting to get him in doll form for a while; and I couldn’t have him without beautiful Belle of course!

The boxes are kind of ok. They are pretty but I’m not a huge fan of these new mainly plastic boxes as they are a lot harder to keep in-tact when taking them out the box. The artwork on the back of the boxes is lovely though 🙂

The princesses in this new range come with a little companion figure and Belle comes with Chip. I completely forgot to take a photo of him, but to be honest, he’s not the greatest figure or representation of Chip in the world so you aren’t missing much 😀 Belle comes in her yellow dress which is really nice and glittery. I’m not a huge fan of her gloves as she looks like she’s wearing mittens but I can always take them off if they annoy me too much! Her face is really lovely and her hair is nicely styled so I am generally pretty pleased with her. I was having difficulty getting her to stand nicely though, hence why I didn’t get a full body shot of her (I’ll try again another day).

Beast is wonderful and horrible at the same time XD I love his outfit, his legs, the way they have padded his back out to give him his proper shape; and his face is just really lovely and captured well. However, you have to look at him from slightly above always as if you look at him straight on, his neck is too long and his big plastic head is about an inch away from his body and just looks horrid XD Goodness knows why they did that as I’m sure they could have got it fitting better; but never mind; he still looks gorgeous from certain angles. His tail is unfortunately a bit ratty too. It was all stuck to the box when I took him out so I had to peel it off and it still feels quite sticky now; plus the seam is really visible. So, he does have a few failings but I’ll look past them as I didn’t pay full price for him so I guess he’s ok considering.

Both being classic dolls, they are meant to work together and they really do. The scaling is pretty good with Beast being larger than Belle; and their colouring and the colours of their clothes go really well so they just look gorgeous together ❤

Disney Store Limited Edition Moana Doll

I decided it was about time I change my blog a little to accommodate for my other Disney merchandise, as although I mainly collect Pixar merch, I do also collect other Disney merch too which I have been sharing on my Instagram account so thought I ought to share it here too.

So to start off, I thought I’d share one of my most recent purchases and one of my now most favourite items in my collection – the Disney Store Limited Edition Moana Doll.

Moana was released at the cinema in December (in the UK) and if you haven’t seen it yet, you really must. It is such a beautiful film and absolutely one of my new favourites. I say that about most Disney films, but this one really is; its just stunning.
I haven’t ever really been interested in the Limited Edition dolls from the Disney Store before. Although they looked lovely, I just wasn’t sure about the cost and also the space they would take up as I don’t have a lot of room for displaying large items. Also, so many people who collect them keep them in their boxes and seem to frown upon those who take them out because it lowers the value and stuff, and I am not the sort of person who keeps toys in boxes, even if they are limited edition, so it did put me off a little bit.
However, when I saw the film and subsequently saw the pictures of the Moana doll, I just couldn’t get her out of my mind. Plus, I had a special voucher for the Disney Store which gave me money off limited edition items (normal codes don’t work on limited items) so in the end, I really couldn’t resist!
She arrived before Christmas but I put her away until after so I would have enough time to really concentrate on her properly without rushing it. If you are a person who is filled with horror at the thought of un-boxing a Limited Edition doll, don’t read any further! I have taken her out the box and I don’t regret it one bit!
My first surprise with her was her size! I thought they were the same size as the classic Disney Store dolls (of whom I already have the Moana) so I got a bit of a shock when the box arrived as they are MUCH bigger!
The box is beautiful, with lovely designs on the outside; and I love the background inside the box too. Moana, Pua and Hei Hei are displayed really nicely inside. The dolls come with a certificate of authenticity and mine is #5178 of 6500.
The detail on her outfit and accessories is fantastic, especially her sandy feet, the water droplets on her skirt; and her necklace which actually opens up to reveal the heart of Tafiti inside.
She also comes with her oar which is again, beautifully detailed; and her trusty companions Pua and Hei Hei on top of a mound of sand. The sand mound is sandy like Moana’s feet; and Pua and Hei Hei are NOT attached so that makes me very happy 🙂
Moana is jointed but in all honesty, she doesn’t have a huge range of movement in them but its good enough for a few different poses. Her face is perfect and really captures her spirit and character; and her hair is really nice but did need a bit of tidying at the back.
All in all, I am really pleased with her and have no regrets about getting her; or about de-boxing her 😉 She is still displayed in her box now but she is no longer attached so I can easily get her out whenever I want to which may horrify some people, but I just wouldn’t enjoy her at all if she was stuck in her box forever. As lovely as she is though, I don’t think I would get any more Limited Edition dolls, purely because I just don’t have room to display them. I’d love the Merida one they did but she is much too expensive for me on the secondary market now; and I would consider any other Pixar characters they did in future; but its unlikely any others will come to live here.

Disney Store Talking "Inside Out" Dolls – Joy, Sadness & Disgust

I had an arrival today of some talking Inside Out dolls that I picked up on Ebay for a good price. They were sold together in the three so they all arrived together today.

These dolls are the Disney Store versions and originally they would have each come with a clear memory sphere ball that you could write a message inside too but these were missing theirs. I’m not too disappointed about that though.

Sadness is my favourite of the three. I just think she looks the nicest and I like the variety of things that she says. You get her to talk by holding her hand, and she has on on/off switch on her back. She is the least pose-able of the three dolls though with her head moving side to side and slightly up and down; and her arms and legs move but her arms are one piece, not jointed in the middle and at the wrist like on the other two dolls but I guess it would have been a bit harder to do that with her and still retain her shape and character. As with all three of them, when she talks her face glows too.
Disgust is my next favourite, I just love the look on her face and again, they picked some really great lines from the film for her to say. You hold her hand to get her to talk and she has an on/off switch on her back too. Her head moves better than Sadness, and she has more joints in her arms which gives a better range of posing options. The only thing I’m not crazy about are her glittery eyelashes. Also, all three of them are near impossible to stand unaided as they have tiny feet 🙂
Joy is my least favourite because I just don’t think her face looks as nice or as authentic as the others. The talking Joy released by Tomy looks much more authentic. Also, when she glows when she talks, the area around her mouth doesn’t glow which looks a bit weird. Aside from those issues though, she is still pretty cute and again, says some great lines from the film. As with the others, you get her to talk by holding her hand and she has an on/off switch on her back. She has jointed arms like Disgust too so she does have a bit more range with regards to posing.
